Fayence America Former Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna's 9th District The Fayences of Mâitre Leherb In the 17th and 18th centuries the technique spread from Italy through France, Switzerland and Holland to the rest of Europe, where the product was called "Fayence", after the town where it originated. Logically Mâitre Leherb was creating - working and finnishing this artwork in Faenza - not only the painting himself. He improoved the burning techniques of the special colours, like the typical "Leherb" blue.
